Sunday, July 8, 2007 DEER PARK GOLF COURSE BENEFIT TOURNAMENT
From the looks of the smiles of the faces of Board members of the Rialto at the Deer Park Golf Course, it appeared that the Benefit Tournament hosted by the golf course was a roaring success! Gayle Mizner reports that after all the various events were completed, it looks like there will be a profit of $5500 to be added to the restoration fund. That figure includes the $750. which the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be adding to the fundraiser. There were 12 teams that participated with another 14 people joining the group for the dinner and auction. The main auction saw lots of active bidding with a couple special moments......when Neil Owens won the wine rack and promptly gave it to Gerianne Opie because Colleen Owens had heard her say before the auction that she would really love to have it but figured it would go too high! A very generous gesture Neil & Colleen! And Steve Flynn also outbid young Koby Owens for Gayle's homemade chocolate chip cookie dough only to give it to him after the bidding was over. Another highlight was when the Griz plaque went for a MUCH higher price than the Bobcat one.....(Sorry Carter.....it appears as though that is as it should be!) Speaking of Carter Meyer, coming from Missoula, his enthusiasm and participation was certainly appreciated! Dave & Goldie Mae Enger from Seattle, WA were also active and generous attendees! Thanks to all who golfed....without them we wouldn't have a tournament. It was a beautiful day and we missed the rain storms twice....The steaks were cooked to perfection by Jim Opie and Edie Anderson organized the ladies of the Deer Lodge Thrivent Lutherans who provided the salads and dessert. There were several ladies from that group that helped with the dinner and that was very much appreciated. As always, Grace & Chris Foster, Terry Evans and Jim Opie helped with all the tourney specifics and are really the pros in that department. Cele Pohle and Donna McCarthy did a fantastic job with the door prizes, announcements and main auction. I think Cele was going to move the podium to her house she liked it so well! Rialto Board members there were Steve Owens and Susie Blair, who manned the beer cart.....Ted Johnson, Mike Johns, & Gayle Mizner. Assisting at the Rialto table were Catherine & Frank Owens. A list of the Hole Sponsors and donations for the auctions and door prizes is above. A lot of very generous people and businesses made this a very successful and fun event. THANKS EVERYONE FOR EVERYTHING!
